Underground Mine Remote Control

UndergroundMineMining operations are deployed with sophisticated industrial controls and sensors for safety and operations efficiency. These sites must work around the clock to be operationally efficient and productive and must experience minimal downtime due to communication failures. With the severe environmental conditions underground, the networking of mining areas requires rugged, anti-vibration specifications of devices to ensure complete control of loading operations while securely transferring data.

To meet all these requirements, Korenix Industrial Embedded Front-end Linux computers have been chosen by the coal mine drilling company to integrate in the networking infrastructure for remotely monitoring engineering data, providing real-time device and process control and connecting to personnel tracking throughout the mines.

To connect and remotely manage PLCs, gas flow meters, thermal detectors and other environment-controlling devices in the underground mining sites, Korenix JetBox 5432-w embedded VPN routing computers have been used, capable of providing high quality data transfer through serial ports. For ensuring digital connectivity of sensors, alarms and other devices, JetBox 3300-w series with integrated DIO interface further completed the network infrastructure. With their small size, they have been easily integrated in small front-end control systems.

By collecting all the information in the system, the JetBox 5432 series using their complete Layer3 routing and VPN functionalities, operated as networking gateways to securely expend networking capabilities to the control center through wireless dongle or through LAN, and therefore, allowing administrators to manage the systems remotely from the control centers. The built-in Linux OS of the computers further provided easy network maintenance and fast remote access for the administrators. Besides, using the Linux SDK functionality, they were able to develop their own programmable front-end controller applications.

By supporting wide operating temperature range and rugged design with resistance to shock and vibration, they performed reliably in harshest conditions of underground sites becoming the best solutions for real-time mining area control.

Solar Bus Station Network Controlling System

2010 Rugsėjo 28 d.

As solar energy is becoming increasingly important in powering electrical and electronic systems, more cities adopt the concept of providing solar powered bus stop stations to maximize energy efficiency and ensure an unpolluted environment. This requires implementation of an intelligent control system which can act as a front-end controller device to connect to a number of peripheral devices for data acquisition, data logging, and simultaneously convert the protocols. Moreover, it should be compact to fit in small systems as well as rugged to resist outdoor environmental conditions.

Power Plant Automation

2010 Rugsėjo 28 d.

The new trend of power plant automation is aiming to have good interoperability between a variety of electronic devices in the substation. When it comes to connect all equipments to each automated power system in one substation, it is not uncommon that different interfaces would be supplied by different manufacturers.
